摘要： The announcement of the closure of Philadelphia's Hahnemann University Hospital in June 2019 sent shock waves through the academic community. The closure had a devastating impact on the residents and fellows who trained there, the patients who had long received their care there, and faculty and staff who had provided care there for decades. Since its beginnings, the hospital, established as part of Hahnemann Medical College in 1885, was a major site for medical student education. The authors share the planning before and actions during the crisis that protected the educational experiences of third- and fourth-year medical students at Drexel University College of Medicine assigned to Hahnemann University Hospital. The lessons they learned can be helpful to leadership in academic health systems in the United States facing a diminishing number of clinical training sites for medical and other health professions students, a situation that is likely to worsen as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to weaken the health care ecosystem.

摘要： Understanding the molecules that are essential for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) entry can provide insights into viral infection and dissemination. Recently, it has been identified from several studies that angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 receptor and transmembrane serine protease 2 are the main entry molecules for the SARS-CoV-2, which produced the pandemic of Covid-19. However, additional evidence showed several other viral receptors and cellular proteases that are also important in facilitating viral entry and transmission in the target cells. In this review, we summarized the types of SARS-CoV-2 entry molecules and discussed their crucial roles for virus binding, protein priming and fusion to the cellular membrane important for SARS-CoV-2 infection.

摘要： A 62-year-old woman presented to our clinic in April 2021 with a painful right eye and increased light sensitivity for 1 week, 30 years after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) in both eyes for myopia of similar to 2.5 diopters. There were no complaints of the left eye. There were no abnormalities in her medical history. The uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) of the right eye at presentation was 20/20. Slitlamp biomicroscopy revealed epithelial ingrowth on the right eye with stromal edema and inflammation and fine keratic precipitates on the endothelium (Figures 1 and 2). The cornea of the left eye was unremarkable. The anterior chamber of the right eye showed 1 + cells (SUN grading). There were no abnormalities in the posterior segment. Figure 3 shows the corneal epithelial ingrowth with a swept-source optical coherence tomography (OCT) and Figure 4 an axial corneal Scheimpflug tomography map. 摘要： Background: Low back pain (LBP) is expected to globally affect up to 80% of individuals at some point during their lifetime. While conventional LBP therapies are effective, they may result in adverse side-effects. It is thus common for patients to seek information about complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) online to either supplement or even replace their conventional LBP care. The present study sought to assess the quality of web-based consumer health information available at the intersection of LBP and CAM. Methods: We searched Google using six unique search terms across four English-speaking countries. Eligi-ble websites contained consumer health information in the context of CAM for LBP. We used the DISCERN instrument, which consists of a standardized scoring system with a Likert scale from one to five across 16 questions, to conduct a quality assessment of websites. Results: Across 480 websites identified, 32 were deemed eligible and assessed using the DISCERN instru-ment. The mean overall rating across all websites 3.47 (SD = 0.70);Summed DISCERN scores across all websites ranged from 25.5-68.0, with a mean of 53.25 (SD = 10.41);the mean overall rating across all websites 3.47 (SD = 0.70). Most websites reported the benefits of numerous CAM treatment options and provided relevant information for the target audience clearly, but did not adequately report the risks or adverse side-effects adequately. Conclusion: Despite some high-quality resources identified, our findings highlight the varying quality of consumer health information available online at the intersection of LBP and CAM. 摘要： Returning to Manne et al. (2000), wherein a class of hyperbolic reaction-diffusion-acoustic models is considered, we show that the inexact transport equation derived by these authors becomes the exact equation for the propagation of second-sound (i.e., thermal waves) in a rigid solid when reformulated under the modified internal energy model, one of several formulations of what has come to be known as hyperbolic heat conduction theory. We then compare/contrast this PDE with/to its exact version, which is based on Cattaneo's equation for the thermal flux, in the context of a signaling problem involving weak discontinuities of second-sound propagating in a solid rod. Our analysis also reveals a connection between the modified internal energy model and what has been termed "inertial theory'', a competing theory of second-sound in solids, and suggests a generalization of the quantity known as the "thermasy''. We conclude with a discussion on the application of the present findings to a well known, widely applicable, class of nonlinear wave equations. Published by Elsevier B.V.
